April fifth will see the relase of the new CD of Yo-Yo Mas project "Silk
Road Ensemble". With only two releases ("When Strangers Meet", "A Musical
Caravan") to their credit, they have already clearly defined their ambition:
To preserve the musical traditions of the golden age of the ancient Silk
Road, to explore its repercussions in the present and to continously search
for points of contact with classical music. That's why the only 35-year old
Mongolian composer Sangidorj Sansargereltech and a plethora of young artists
are just as much part of the deal as are Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy.
According to Sony Music, the ensemble is to embark on a short tour of major
US-cities around the time of the album's release.
