You thought classical music was one big party full of glamour. glitter and
grandeur - so think again! In a recent interview for the Philadelphia
Daily News, Hilary Hahn has spoken out about naive beliefs, that
musicians were "untouchable people jet-setting around the world", claiming
instead to be living a normal life. Hilary also asked to be kindly left
alone regarding those that still called her a "prodigy". Rather than a
compliment, she felt this was actually depicting her as a quixotic and
single-minded girl and, furthermore, that there were plenty of other talents
around as well.
On an even more interesting note, Hahn explained a peculiarity of her style: Even though she wasn't aware of it at the time, her teacher Mr. Brodksy was an important influence to her and led her to play "everything as if it's chamber music". This, despite the fact that Brodksy used no particular method in his classes.
In her latest journal entry, an album of Mozart sonatas was announced for early fall.
