It's summer and news is getting scarce. So at mouvement nouveau, we're extremely happy that Nicola Benedetti is not letting us down and keeps on going. With London's Royal Festival Hall to be refurbished, Nicola was given a special assignment: As the location will be closed for the public for a total of 18 months, the organisors thought it would be a nice idea to see how much the world would change in this (admittedly not breathtakingly long) timespan. That's why Benedetti placed a "time capsule" in its walls, containing some of the most important objects of our present daily lives in the box, such as... er... an ipod. We'll get back to you in 1,5 years to tell you the end of this.
In another story, Nicola and Ewan McGregor (that's Obi Wan Kenobi, for all you Star-Wars Fans) will make an appearance at the youth G8 Summit which sees 8 teenagers from poor countries and 8 representatives of the rich world debate about politics and work out a manifesto to be presented at the "real" G8 summit. Benedetti and McGregor will both be present at the opening ceremonies and host the event.
Finally, Nicola has been chosen as the third most powerful Scot in the annual "Scorland's Power 100" That's the highest debut entry ever in this list. A strange choice possibly, but surely one that illustrated how far this girl has come already.
