Li Jianhong: Chinese King of Stoned Crowds

Guitarist Li Jianhong (superlatively dubbed „The best Noise musician in China” by his Polish colleague Zbigniew Karkowski) is preparing for a string of high-profile live appearances over the next few weeks. Teaming up with his colleagues of Vavabond for a duo performance at Shanghai’s eArt Festival, he will share the bill with laptop pioneer Carl Stone (who enjoys a strong following in Asia thanks to his Tokyo-residency and has gained growing popularity on China’s emerging experimental music scene) as well as electronic revolutionaries Autechre. Only shortly after, a performance has been scheduled at the 2Kolegas bar as part of the Waterland series of underground sound art. Here, Li Jianhong will present his eclectic taste by serving up a double dish, first appearing under the banner of cosmic psychedelicia and the Vagus Nerve moniker and following this trip up with a session with rising Saxophone sensation Li Zenghui.
