The smallish German town of Heinsberg has decided to lend an
international flair to its 750-year celebration this year. In a
surprising and most welcome move, it has been decided that it will host
a guitar festival, including four top concerts and a competition.
Performers will include Zoran Dukic, Carlo Marchione, Thomas
Müller-Pering and Roman Viazovskiy, one of the main organisors. The
jury will include Tadashi Sasaki, Krzystof Pelech and Colin Cooper
(co-publisher of the Classical Guitar Magazine).
The winner will not only receive a 4.000 EURO donation on his bank acount, but also a "Masaki Sakurai" Guitar, hand-made by one of the Guitar worlds finest craftsmen. With second and third position still goind for 2.000 and 1.000 EUROs respectively, noone's returning home in a sad mood.
This seems to be one of the events of the year, so we'll definitely stay tuned for further information.
