If great composers always get stuck on nine symphonies, then Philip Glass isn't all too far from retirement. After having premiered his seventh in January of this year, a date has already been set for number eight. The happening will take place on September 16th at the Orange County Performing Arts Centre and things will be run by Carl St. Clair and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, who also comissioned the thirty-minutes work. Lots of numbers, we know. And there's more: Glass' new opera "Waiting for the Barbarians", with a story adapted from nobel prize winner J.M. Coetzee will see the day of light in Erfurt on September 10th. Meanwhile, his score for Johnny Depps "Secret Window" has not been issued yet - which wasn't his strongest work anyway if you aks us.
