Crisis Part II

img
The ambiguity of the current situation of classical music is perfectly displayed by the following report published in the Osnabrücker Zeitung. Bad news first: In a reaction to disappointing public interest, music agency Schoneberg has decided to end its series of "Master Concerts" after thirty years. What seems to be another hard blow, may turn out to be a great opportunity instead: Classical Organisors in Osnabrück will now work closely together with the marketing agency of the city and its main concert hall. Instead of watering things down, schedules will keep their individuality and merely be marketed jointly. As a result, more potential customers can be addressed and there is the option of introducing a combined system of reductions. There are already first signs this idea might be fruitful: Timo Maschmanns company Music and Arts will take over from Schoneberg and is now offering five chamber music concerts as well as a special concert called "Osnabrück Klassik Plus".
