Beequeen: Sandancing into the Summer

Two years have passed and therefore, it’s time for a new album by one one of the more unusual pop projects of this planet, Beequeen. Composed of Freek Kinkelaar, Frans de Waard and a string of guests, “Sandancing” and “Sandancing Demos” are available through Important Records as of now. “Sandancing” is a melange of soulful electrotunes, soft ambient drift, twisted lyrical collages and polyphonic vocal harmonies on some of the sweetest tracks this summer will have on offer. Kinkelaar and de Waard have invited singer Olga Wallis to theri studio and her delivery sits comfortably between disturbed and disturbing poetry and naive touches of autumn. Guitarist Barry Gray, who used to play with the The Legendary Pink Dots, is also part of the lineup, adding dreamy licks. From the orchestral to the disarmingly simple, “Sandancing” touches upon a variety of emotions and is perfectly aligned with some of the other projects the duo has been involved in over the past couple of years.
