Artsy News

News from ARTS, a label covering about everything from medieval music to contemporary compositions. In an industry announcement, Andrea Hentschke has taken on the duty of product manager. Her first "duty" was to inform the world about some exciting new releases:

For all those looking for the future in the past, a release of a 1972 recording of Orffs "Orpheus" might be a temptation. Ferdinand Leitner decided to tediously follow the composers ideas and has realised a version sung in Ancient Greek. At the same time, the double disc set comes as a 24bit/96kHz remaster, so its sound will be closer to modern times than mithology.

Music from Mauro Giuliani is featured on another promising new CD. Guitar compositions are still a field full of surprises and the fact that Giuliani was one of the most important figures of this genre might have passed by even the most fervent classical music lover. Anyway, with this recording of his third Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra, there's no more excuses.

Talking about excuses: There can only be one excuse NOT to buy the  box set  with the lovely title "Il Cimento dell'Armonia e dell'Inventione":  You not having saved enough pocket money in order to purchase it. As a 4CD-set it might not be the cheapest gift to give to yourself for easter, but it's one of the best for sure.
