Al Margolis: New Music Ringtones!

Al Margolis of Pogus Records has informed us that the digital availability of some of his label’s works on iTunes has an unexpected and apparently unintentional benefit: They can spice up your mobile telephony! “While I hate to shill for the big boys like iTunes - they are offering 5 titles from the Pogus DIY Canons cd as being available for ringtones!”, Al Margolis happily announced, “Apparently if you download one of the tracks you can then use iTunes's ringtone editor to make a ringtone. So if you want something a little different on your phone and also the opportunity to help a little financially - go for it.” It is almost artistic in this respect that the album Margolis is referring to is already a postmodern mashup of sorts, a “double cd compilation based on a work of Larry Polansky's”, with compositions “constructed from the sounds of cats, screams, MIDI instruments, computer, Barbie Phone, samples, wooden flutes, piano, bass clarinet, Metro Cards, contrabass” and – you guessed it – ringtones!
